Cocabelle

A while back I mentioned that The Jones were coming back. Well sadly that never materialised by Kris and Kev "Jones" haven't left the industry. They are involved with a bright star who might just go one step further and make it in to our charts. The soul / blues influenced lady named Cocabelle is being co-managed by the former lead singer and guitarist of The Jones as well as them writing for her. I certainly recommend checking our Lion's Den and my apologies go to Kris for not bringing this to your attention sooner.

Some Great News

Remember the good old days when you used to get something exciting in the post, well those days are gone but they have been replaced by the wonders of email. Just the other day I got an email through from the gentlemen above. The Jones, who we've covered a few times before, have ditched Atomic and have signed to CaraL Management. They've not been doing this totally in the quiet, they announced in March that they were still together and working underground but now it seems they're ready to face the world. I've no news on new material but here is a box.net link to The Girl Is Like A Gun, my favourite track that I still listen to on a regular basis. Think early Muse with a Leeds influence.

The Jones - Goodies to be won + new track

Do I have a competition for you today! You can win a signed poster, CD and limited edition T-shirt from the excellent band The Jones. Kris Jones has been in touch (despite a recent spell in a West Yorkshire hospital) and is offering all the above up to whoever gets in touch and tells us who your favourite famous Jones is. What's Wrong With The Mainstream April '09 Playlist

What a track to start this month's playlist, I've been sitting on this track for a while but couldn't wait any longer to post it. It's a brand new track from The Jones and I think it's their best to date. It seems to grow as a track, becoming Muse-esque by the end with a quality guitar solo. I'm hoping to have something special for you next month from The Jones.

New track from The Jones

I've finally got my hands on another track by up and coming band The Jones but rather than me tell you about them I asked my friend Q Shoes (who introduced me to them) to give you the low-down:

"A great new band from Leeds (and Doncaster), The Jones combine the best bits of both new and old skool Indie / Britpop. With their strong melodies and vocals the band doff their caps in the direction of the likes of Kasabian, James, The Killers, The Wonder Stuff and The Music to create a right rollicking good listen."

Fantastic New Band From Leeds

The Jones are a band I've come across through my good friend QShoes (no, I don't know why that's his nickname). They're quite similar to The Music and The Sunshine Underground, with fast paced rock. Their first single In My Head is due out early this year on Atomic records (thanks to Ben from their management for giving me the OK to post the track). If you like either The Music or The Sunshine Underground I definitely recommend you check out this track.
