This too will pass

Someone close to me has been going through a rough time recently and they handed me this compilation CD the other day. Reading through the track listings, knowing what they are going through, what they've been through and learning more about what they are going through brought a tear to my eye. Lots of people struggle with depression and when I say lots I mean LOADS, it's just all kept under wraps. I don't think it's a taboo subject it's just people are ashamed or embarrassed when they shouldn't be. Often thinking irrational thoughts, people with depression can convince themselves of many untruths, about themselves and about what other people are thinking. It's an illness, it is something you can recover from.

I hope they don't mind me sharing this with you, I'm not sure they read this blog but judging by some of the tracks I guess they might. This is the track listing:

Something Is Not Right With Me - Cold War Kids
Social Anxiety Attack - The Magi
You're Not Very Well - The Charlatans
She's Lost Control - Joy Division
I Wanna Be Sedated - The Ramones
I Can't Stop This Feeling I've Got - Razorlight
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
This Is How It Feels - Inspiral Carpets
In To Each Life Some Rain Must Fall - Hot Puppies
Release The Pressure - Leftfield
Come In Out Of The Rain - Engineers
Everything Will Be Alright - The Killers
I Made It Through The Rain - Barry Manilow
Dog Days Are Over - Florence & The Machine
Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles
Feel Good By Numbers - Go! Team
Bulletproof - La Roux
Happy Endings - Pulp

I'm glad it had a happy ending.

On a purely music comment it is a very well put together playlist, clever how it takes you from their lows, through their middle ground (very clever) and then on to the recovery. Strangley enough only the other day I was reading a blog I used to read regularly and they seem to be struggling too. Stop by and give some love.
